J. Lynne Wines

MESSAGE FROM THE WINEMAKER, JENNIFER WALL

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to be sending out our third edition of the J. Lynne Russian River Valley Wines newsletter!

Here at J. Lynne Wines, we focus on making quality, small production, hand crafted Russian River Valley wines. We’ve been doing this since the 2002 vintage.

Jennifer Lynne Wall

August is an exciting month for us for many reasons. We are eager for the upcoming harvest to begin as it looks like its gong to be another great vintage; at the same time, we are thrilled to announce the release of the 2006 vintage J. Lynne Russian River Valley Chardonnay & Pinot Noir.

As harvest approaches, we are delighted to share with you photos of our fruit which is becoming riper as each day passes. Because our grapes are grown in the heart of the Russian River Valley, which is one of Sonoma County’s cooler growing regions, our grapes have the luxury of enjoying a longer maturation period. This elongated growing season is one of the factors which help give our wines extraordinarily intense aromas and flavors.

The release of our 2006 Russian River Valley Chardonnay & Pinot Noir marks J. Lynne’s 5th vintage offering!

We look forward to the upcoming competition season as we release our latest vintage. These 2006 Russian River Valley wines are true to the J. Lynne style: beautiful, intense and varietally distinct. We hope you are able to taste them soon.

As always, your interest, support and consumption are appreciated!

Cheers,

CURRENT RELEASES
Yeah! It’s finally here! Our 5th anniversary release:

2006 J. Lynne Russian River Valley Chardonnay:
Cameron Ranch (single vineyard.) Only 475 cases produced.
The Cameron Ranch is located in the heart of the Russian River Valley between River Road and the Mark West Creek, just east of the Martinelli property.
J. Lynne Russian River Valley Chardonnay was whole cluster pressed, not crushed, to ensure the fruit was treated as delicately as possible. As always, the J. Lynne Chardonnay enjoyed more than 6 months in French Oak prior to bottling.

2006 J. Lynne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir:
Cameron Ranch and Saralee’s Vineyard (a blend of 2 clones.) Only 785 cases produced.
Saralee’s Vineyard is located just 3 miles west of the Cameron Ranch,
at the cross of River Road and Slusser Road.
J. Lynne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir was de-stemmed and loosely crushed to maintain as many whole berries as possible as it was transferred into tank. The juice was allowed to cold soak for several days prior to inoculation. Following primary fermentation, J. Lynne Pinot Noir enjoyed more than 6 months in French Oak prior to bottling.

The grapes from the 2006 vintage were left on the vine late into the growing season to ensure maximum maturity. Once the grapes were ready to be harvested, they were hand selected to ensure only the best fruit was chosen for these wines.

HARVEST REPORT/PRE-RELEASE INFORMATION

The 2007 vintage looks fantastic this far!

The Chardonnay clusters are plentiful and perfectly spaced in order to get enough nutrients, sun and air flow.

The Pinot Noir clusters are just now going through verasion, which is the color change that red wines go through (from green to purple.) Additionally, at this time the grapes are starting to soften as they begin to become ripe and gain more sugar.

The Cameron Ranch newly planted vines are looking good and are on track to bear some fruit next harvest!

VINEYARD MANAGER MESSAGE
Hello from the Cameron Ranch!

Harvest is almost here and the crop is looking good. While quantities are down slightly from last year, the quality seems to be exceptional.

The Cameron Ranch has been providing J. Lynne wines with fruit from the very first vintage. We are pleased to announce that we will again be providing J. Lynne with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir this upcoming vintage.

We are currently anticipating harvest to occur around the end of September for both the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Based on this summer’s weather and current Brix (sugar) testing in the vineyard, both varieties should be ready to pick around that time frame.

Cheers! David
