MESSAGE
FROM THE WINEMAKER, JENNIFER WALL
Dear
Friends,
Hello
from J. Lynne Wines, located in the heart of the Russian River
Valley.
We are
pleased to be sending out our second edition of the J. Lynne
Wines newsletter! |
 |
|
Here at J. Lynne Wines we focus on making single vineyard,
small production, hand crafted Russian River Valley wines.
We’ve been doing this since the 2002 vintage.
Over
the years, we have been fortunate to have been awarded numerous
prestigious awards, including but not limited to the Gold
Medal, Best of Class, Chairman’s Award won at the Orange
County wine competition last year.
We
are happy to announce that we were just awarded a GOLD medal
at the 24th annual San Diego International Wine Competition
which benefits the charitable activities of San Diego’s
Sisters of Social Service and the San Diego Social Service
Auxiliary. This competition is directed by Robert Whitley,
famous wine critic.
The
2005 vintage is beginning to come to an end. The 2006 wines
will be in bottle before we know it. We hope that you’ve
had the opportunity to taste these two wonderful examples
of Chardonnay & Pinot Noir from this vintage and appellation.
As
always, your interest, support and consumption are appreciated!
Cheers,
|

The 2005
J. Lynne wines represent our fourth vintage release. We bottled
these single vineyard wines in October 2006 and only a few of
these 2005 cases are available: Less than 120 cases of our Chardonnay
(which just won the GOLD medal indicated above!) are available.
The 2005 J. Lynne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is sold out.
The 2006 vintage will be available after August 1st of this year.
The grapes
which became these wines came from the Cameron Ranch, located
in the heart of the Russian River Valley between River Road and
the Mark West Creek, just adjacent to the Martinelli property.

Beautiful clusters of Chardonnay grapes.

|
| The
grapes from this vintage were left on the vine late into the growing
season to ensure maximum maturity. Once we decided the grapes were
ready to be harvested, they were hand selected to ensure our high
quality standards were maintained.
J. Lynne Russian
River Valley Chardonnay was whole cluster pressed, not crushed,
to ensure the fruit was treated as delicately as possible. As always,
the J. Lynne Chardonnay enjoyed more than 6 months in French Oak
prior to bottling. |

REPORT/PRE-RELEASE INFORMATION |
Our
2006 J. Lynne Russian River Valley Chardonnay and our 2006 J. Lynne
Russian River Valley Pinot Noir are currently both aging in French
Oak barrels, mostly from the Vosges forest. We use one, two and
three year old French oak barrels to ensure the perfect amount of
quality oak influence in these wines. We will pump these wines out
of barrels next month in order to prepare them for bottling currently
scheduled for July.
We are very
pleased with the quality of the fruit form the 2006 vintage. The
Russian River Valley Chardonnay continues to display intense tropical
aromas and flavors. This wine has a perfect balance of Chardonnay
fruit, light creaminess, a hint of oak, and will prove to be fantastic
with food.
J. Lynne
Russian River Valley Pinot Noir has more intense colors, aromas
and flavors in 2006 while maintaining the qualities and characters
we expect from the Russian River Valley. Our 100% Russian River
Valley Pinot Noir is true to the varietal; distinctly Pinot Noir-like.
It is showing aromas of cola and black cherry. As in previous
years, it is still delicate and elegant, every sip ending with
a velvety finish.
As we strive
to do with each vintage, we will bottle slightly more cases of
the 2006 vintage, than we did of the 2005. The wines will continue
to be hand crafted, small production lots.

MANAGER MESSAGE |
Hi
everyone,
I am David
Cornelssen and I am married to Laurie ‘Cameron’ Cornelssen.
I have been working on the family ranch for over 18 years. I farm
with my brother-in-law Butch Cameron for Laurie and Butch’s
mother Dorothy on he Wes Cameron Ranch located in the heart of
the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, California. The ranch
is named after Laurie and Butch’s late father, Wes Cameron.
|
| The
Cameron Ranch has been providing the fruit for the J. Lynne Russian
River Valley Chardonnay and Pinot Noir since the very first vintage.
We love this
time of year in the vineyard. Favorable spring weather has created
an optimal growing period. Right now the shoots are out well over
30 inches (normally half the length this time of the year) and the
bloom has just about finished. The clusters are looking good and
crop quantity appears to be above average.

|
| We
have successfully made it through another frost season, having to
use frost protection measures only two times this year. While history
has included frosts up to June, they are very uncommon and the forecast
appears to be clear for the rest of this year.
This year,
In addition to our normal vineyard program, we have initiated a
two year planting plan which will increase the number of Chardonnay
& Pinot Noir vines in our vineyard. In order to accomplish this,
we will have to replace some of the original French Columbard vines
which were some of the first grapevines planted by the Cameron family.
So sit back
and enjoy a glass of J. Lynne Chardonnay or Pinot Noir with family
and friends this summer. The Wes Cameron Ranch and our families
look forward to providing exceptional quality grapes for the 2007
J. Lynne vintage and beyond.
Cheers! |
